On 27th and 28th
August, 2010, Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh participated in the Conference of
"World and Regional Economic Situations and Their Effects on
Vietnam's Economy".
The Conference was co-organized by the Party Central Office and Ho Chi Minh
City Open University in Vung Tau.
Prof. Dang Phong, a leading Economic Historian in
Vietnam, has
passed away at his house in the early morning of 20th August, 2010
for serous disease. Prof. Dang Phong had contributed substantially to the Economic
History of Vietnam. His career began from the middle of the 1960s and he has
achieved great success until the present. Prof. Dang Phong is a great teacher,
a kind and warm friend, a visionary consultant and a fervent advocate of VEPR.
His death has been a big loss to the Vietnamese economists in general and to
VEPR in particular.
After
successfully organized the Award of “Students Doing Economic and Policy Research”
within the University of Economics and Business, Vietnam National University,
Hanoi (UEB-VNU), VEPR has officially decided to broaden the scale of this award
to universities all over the country.
In the
morning of 11th August, 2010, Board of Rector of University of Economics
and Business,
VietnamNationalUniversity,
Hanoi (UEB –
VNU) had a meeting with Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council of Vietnam
to transfer the publications of Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2010 and other research
products.
On 7th
August the Vietnam Centre for Economics and Policy Research organized a
sightseeing tour along the Red River to relax and introduce scenery for
internships from
Princeton University,
USA.
