VEPR

On January 21, 2010, in meeting room 601 of the University of Economics and Business, Vietnam National University- Hanoi, VEPR’s experts, representatives of the Faculty of Development Economics, the Department of Scientific Research Office, and leaders of the University of Economics and Business (VNU) had a meeting with representative of the authors of Vietnam’s Competitiveness Report 2009 - 2010, Dr. Vu Minh Khuong from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. 

The meeting aimed to discuss the draft of the Vietnam’s Competitiveness Report 2009-2010. The Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai is responsible for this Report, while Professor Michael Porter – the founding father of the theory on Competitiveness of Nations, is supervising its contents. The Asia Competitiveness Institute, Lee Kuan Yew School, and the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) (Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment) are co-organizers of the Report, which will be presented at the East Asia World Economy Forum held in Ho Chi Minh City in June 2010.

Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh is currently a member of the Report’s Advisory Board.

The meeting was fruitful and effective. Dr. Vu Minh Khuong highly appreciated the contributions from VEPR’ experts and expressed his hope that VEPR can directly participate in building the Report to make one of international standards with Vietnamese knowledge.
