VEPR

In light of the success of the Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2009, the Vietnam Centre for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR), along with the University of Economics and Business- VNU, is building the Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2010. In order to collect experts’ opinions on the first draft of the VEPR held a Midterm workshop on Jan. 30, 2010 at  meeting room 406, Building E4, 144 Xuan Thuy, Cau Giay, HN.

This was a great opportunity for the authors of the Report and Vietnam’s leading economists to discuss major issues studied in the Draft, including the key macroeconomic issues in 2009. Workshop participants included Dr. Nguyen Quang A, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Cung (Vice Presisent, Central Institute for Economic Management - CIEM), Dr. Tran Viet Ky (An Phu Investment Funds), Dr. Le Le Thuy (An Phu Invesment Funds), Dr. Vu Quoc Huy (University of Economic and Business, Vietnam National University Hanoi), Dr. Le Hong Nhat (Vietnam National University HCM city), and a representative of  the University of Economics and Business- VNU, Vice Rector – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Son.

Both sessions of the workshop were fruitful and informative. The commentators gave straightforward and practical comments to the authors. Most of the experts shared a view that the Report this year was conducted in a highly rigorous manner, and the outcome was expected to be more upgraded than the Report last year.

The authors will revise and improve the Report based upon the comments received from the Workshop. The Report is planned to be completed in March, 2010.
